Faith Lutheran Church Adult Education
Spring Schedule - May-June 2010 New Sunday Morning Adult Bible Classes Begin May 2 How we got the Bible - Led by Daveen Holzapfel in the library. Join us for a study about the production, collection, transmission and preservation of God’s Word in the Bible. This study will explore the historical development, textual transmission and publication history of the Bible as it has come down to us through the centuries. With special emphasis on God’s divine activity through the Spirit-inspired authors of the Old and New Testaments, this study will show how the Bible is His book, His Word – revealed to man that they might know the way of salvation as revealed by the prophets and made real in the flesh through the life, death and resurrection of God’s son, Jesus Christ. Digging into the Readings - Led by Bruce Lindskog in the Chapel - Each Sunday we hear three readings from the Bible. In this class we will take a closer look at these readings and find the connections between each reading. The class probes the meaning of each reading and provides food for thought throughout the week. Couples of the Old Testament (PANIC) - Led by Dave and Marty Piotrowsky in the Fellowship Hall - P.A.N.I.C. stands for Parenting and Nurturing in Christ. We usually study something that helps us be better parents. One of the things we have discovered is that in order to get our parenting right we must have our relationship with our spouse right too. Consequently, this session we are going to study "Couples of the Old Testament." In the pages of the Old Testament we find copules who live with chronic disappointment and couples who overcome all obstacles to be together. There are arranged marriages, fiercely loving marriages, enduring marriages, an instant marriage, a coerced marriage, and even a couple who had the perfect marriage - and blew it. In these strange but timeless stories we learn much about marriage, God and ourselves. Stuff They Didn't Teach Me in Sunday School about Genesis - Led by Christal Chapman in the Fireside Room- Are you ready to get behind the scenes on those great stories in Genesis you heard as a kid but wondered about as an adult? Well, wonder no longer. This class will look at famous stories like Adam and Eve, Noah, and Abraham. Then we will discuss “The rest of the story” and how it impacts our lives today.
